For those who have had no introduction to Bart Bellon, he is best known around Europe and the USA for his seminars. Bart has mastered a training combination which he calls "negative/positive stimulus training".
Bart Bellon was born on 20/03/1960; spending his childhood in Burundi (ex Belgian colony).
Bart became involved with dogs while living in N. Central Africa in the 70’s. Dogs were used for protection and he worked with a variety of different dogs, none of them Malinois.
When Bart returned to Belgium 1974, he lived near the town of Mechelen, the birthplace of the Malinois, and began to visit the local ring club (one of the strongest clubs), where he was enlisted as a decoy (villain).
Having studied as a Sport Teacher, Bart played football avidly and was often torn between his work as a villain and the sport he loved. Later the dogs played a progressively larger part in his life. He won the Belgian ring championships in 1992 with his Belgian Malinois / German Shepherd Dog mix, “Flup” and again in 2002 with his very well known Malinois, “Zodt”. Between 1992 and 2004 Bart’s club produced 7 Belgian Champions.
Bart now trains dogs professionally and has given training seminars for the past six years, all over Europe and the USA. He has coached many Obedience and Schutzhund trainers to top scores, displayed his techniques to Service Dog Sections, coached decoys (villans) and helped many of the average pet dog owners to produce well behaved canine companions, never losing sight of the importance of the dog's drive and attitude.
Together with Dr. Helmut Raiser, Bart co-athured “Contact”, and was the Idea behind “Dances with Malinois”, he is at present writing a book about Dog Training which will be published in 2005.
