Domestic dogs are tame and live with people. They are all one species of animal, which means that they can breed (mate) with one another. Different types of domestic do are called breeds and there are around 200 recognized breeds, but new breeds are always being created.
By mating two different types of domestic dog, it is possible to create an entirely new breed.
