WHAT IPO IS ?
IPO is Internationale Prüfungsordnung which mean International Rules of Trial
IPO and Schutzhund basically are the same, only minor difference. Now the rules between
them almost the same.
Let us see the rules of IPO.
IPO has 3 levels and each level divided into tracking, obedience and protection
Tracking :
IPO 1 : the track is laid by the handler, minimum of 300 paces, 3 legs
2 corners approx 90 degrees, 2 article that belong to the handler, at
least 20 minutes old, time to work out the track 15 minutes.
IPO 2 : The track is laid by a stranger to the dog minimal 400 paces, 3 legs, 2 corners
approx. 90 degrees, 2 articles, at least 30 minutes old, time to work out the track
15 minutes.
IPO 3 : The track is laid by a stranger minimum 600 paces, 5 legs, 4 corners approx 90
degrees, 3 articles, at least 60 minutes old, and 20 minutes to work-out the track
Obedience :
IPO 1 : free heeling, sit in motion, down with recall, retrieve on the flat,
retrieve over hurdle, retrieve over scaling wall, send away with down, and
long down under distraction
IPO 2 : Same as IPO 1 and additional is stand in motion ( walking )
IPO 3 : same as IPO 1 and additional is stand in motion ( running )
Protection :
IPO 1 : search for the helper, hold and bark, prevention of an attempted
escape of the helper, defense of the dog during guarding phase, and attack
on the dog out of motion
IPO 2 : Same as IPO 1 and additional are back-transport and attack on the dog out of the
back-transport
IPO 3 : same as IPO 2 and additional is defense of the dog out of the guarding phase after
the attack on the dog out of motion
The dog will be disqualified if left the handlers while on the trial and with maximum 3 times command, if did not back to the handler then the dog is disqualified.
To pass each level, minimum points must be 70% from 100 points
